The General Adaptation Theory (GAT) provides
a general description across all disciplines of
how a troubling mismatch can be resolved.

Everybody knows: There are differences everywhere, which are resolved by changes towards adaptations. We start with a difference, then we change something in order to get adaptation. GAT differentiates this truism into a system theory based algorithm.

First: The General Adaptation Algorithm (GAA) describes every change.

Second: From a systems theory perspective, any change can be an adaptation.

The GAT use the algorithm and the description as a set of systems for an universal general adaptation algorithm:

  1. Capture the challenge!
  2. Defne the systems!
  3. Get their properties!
  4. Categorize the systems!
  5. Look for possible variations!
  6. Consider consequences!
  7. Act: Method - Application - Data!
  8. Compare!
  9. Learn!

The general adaptation algorithm (GAA) help us
- to understand the process of adaptation in a wide area of domains,
- to achieve adaptation by a systemic view.
